The story behind this T-shirt:
Sukhjit Khaur, the designer, said she wanted to show two women side by side; one is wearing a scarf and considered “mainstream and acceptable” by western standards; the other is a Muslim wearing a hijab, and considered oppressed. Why the double standards? Utimately, it is about each individual’s right to the expression of her identity.
“At Hysterical, our focus on equality, diversity and inclusion encompasses our passion for growing communities and educational development, with an aim to create a better, more sustainable future for all of us, especially for those across the developing world.
This t-shirt was ethically handmade in Indonesia using 100% organic cotton, utilising a sustainable resource that minimises impact to the environment, supporting local Balinese tailors and their families”
